Human Remains Container Found Leaking On Southwest Airlines Plane

Baggage handlers in Albuquerque, New Mexico were unloading the cargo bin of Flight 477 from Houston Thursday afternoon when they discovered blood had leaked from inside a shipping container with human remains.
In a statement Friday, the airline admits blood did get on some of the passenger luggage, but says it was a small amount of bags and that the passengers have ‘been compensated for the damage’ of their bags.
Southwest says the remains were being shipped through a third-party vendor, and says they are following up to keep incidents like this one limited in the future.
CBS station KRQE-TV in Albuquerque says Southwest did not notify airport officials there about the incident. Southwest says it is not obligated to notify the FAA or any other agency about the spill since a hazardous materials crew was not needed.
