Shocked, But Not Really

Hurricane Sandy wrecked the lives of millions of people in just a few short hours. Hundreds of thousands are left homeless, powerless and many are left hopeless.

When we work in a small niche profession like funeral service it is common to develop strong friendships and business relationships. What isn’t as common is when those relationships go beyond the call of duty and reach a helping hand for no other reason then to just help a friend in need.

I received an email yesterday morning that shocked me, but when I read who the email was about, I wasn’t shocked anymore.

This is the short email I recieved from Paul Generowicz, owner of SympathyNet.com (shared with permission):

Ryan,

I have to keep this short. We took a direct hit from Hurricane Sandy.

Kevin Czachor, Kathy, Mary and others from ASD reached out to me because they know where I live and work. They immediately got the gas, supplies, clothing and food that our family, friends and neighbors needed.

They drove over 5 hours to bring to us what we asked for.

They are angels and I want to reinforce their level of caring, class, generosity and compassion to the industry even though the industry already knows it.

I have a loss for words about them…

Many of our customers as well are calling ,and emailing to ask about us. We are fortunate that all is and will be ok…. inconvenient, but material things can all be replaced .

I have the pleasure of knowing the Czachor’s and some of their team at ASD, and there isn’t one thing above that shocks me. I am sure there are thousands in the funeral profession that feel the same way.

Thank you for sharing Paul. You and your neighbors are thoughts and prayers.
