ASD Mobile 2 Selected As Finalist for the 2012 NFDA Innovation Award
Media, PA—ASD – Answering Service for Directors’ powerful iPhone application, ASD Mobile 2, was recently chosen as a finalist by the National Funeral Directors Association for the 2012 NFDA Innovation Award. This prestigious award is given annually to a funeral service vendor whose product or service was introduced during the previous year and represents creativity, innovation and excellence.
A distinguished panel of judges selected ASD Mobile 2 as one of the five finalists for the award. The winner will be announced at the Opening General Session of the NFDA 2012 International Convention & Expo in October after the funeral service community has an opportunity to cast their vote online. Online voting will take place until September 14 on the NFDA Business Exchange website.
Introduced in December 2011, the ASD Mobile 2 app has been downloaded by over 3,000 funeral professionals and has received more than 40 Five-Star Reviews on the Apple iTunes Store—exceeding all other mobile apps created for the funeral profession. Many of the reviews posted by directors describe how the app has transformed the way their funeral home conducts business. Owners and part-time staff alike rely on the app to send and receive information while on the go. In addition to the thousands of current users, ASD Mobile 2 is downloaded by an average of 20 funeral professionals each day.
“ASD Mobile 2 is a very quick, simple way to manage everything that our on call attendants would ever need: from changing our on-call order to managing obituaries to checking incoming calls. Push notification is a must for any person in the funeral business,” says Chad Scott, Funeral Director at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home in Elkins, WV.
When designing the app, ASD’s technical team realized that funeral directors required more than just a scaled down version of ASD’s website. With break-through push notification technology, the ASD Mobile 2 app functions as a two-way channel capable of transmitting and receiving information. Messages are immediately “pushed” to the device through the app with little effort required from users. Directors have one-touch access to send service or on-call information and can monitor all incoming telephone activity without being tethered to a physical location.
“Rather than settling for a very generic app, we harnessed our state-of-the-art technology to build a custom interactive mobile solution ,” says ASD Vice President and Family Member Owner Marty Czachor, who designed the app with ASD’s technical team. “ASD clients have come to expect a higher standard and the ASD Mobile 2 app is another example of the ways ASD has worked to improve our clients’ lives with the most advanced technology.
ASD is thrilled the NFDA judging panel recognized the value and efficiency that the ASD Mobile 2 app delivers to funeral professionals. The company will continue to seek out innovative mobile solutions for the funeral profession and plans to release ASD Mobile 2 for the Android platform very soon. ASD is looking forward to the upcoming NFDA convention and the opportunity to demo the ASD Mobile 2 app for their clients at the show.
