The International Order of the Golden Rule (OGR) Foundation is accepting applications for its 2027 Awards of Excellence scholarship program through Dec 31. The program will distribute $10,000 in financial aid to six mortuary science students selected for their academic performance and community involvement.
Applicants must be enrolled in a mortuary science degree program and scheduled to graduate in 2027. Students can review eligibility details and apply online at OGR.org/scholarship. All applications must be submitted by midnight on Dec. 31.
“The future of funeral service depends on individuals who are committed to upholding the highest standards of care and service,” said Jamie Wieting, Chair of the OGR Foundation Board. “Through the Awards of Excellence scholarship program, we are proud to recognize students who demonstrate those values while helping ease the financial challenges of pursuing their education. Supporting these future professionals is an investment in the continued strength of independent funeral service.”
The top scholarship recipient will also receive registration, travel, and lodging for OGR’s annual conference, PROGRESS, held May 17–19, 2027, in Orlando, Florida. The conference offers opportunities to meet independent funeral home owners and industry leaders.
The scholarship program is funded by donations to the OGR Foundation. Donors are recognized on the Foundation’s Virtual Tribute Wall.
