Here they are, the 13 most read funeral article on ConnectingDirectors.com in 2016 – complete with $16K caskets, topless casket models and things to remember if you love a funeral director.

Why did we choose just 13? We really don’t know. Check’em out below:

13. 5 Reasons Why Kids Should Grow Up To Be Funeral Directors

Firefighter, president of the universe, pizza maker, astronaut–all common answers from kids when they’re asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” And they’re all good ones, but we happen to think there’s another great answer missing from the list: funeral director.

12. THE END OF THE LINE FOR FORMALDEHYDE

I used to associate the National Funeral Director’s Association (NFDA) with Brooks-Brothers-clad lobbyists who never questioned the utility of highly toxic embalming fluids. So imagine my delight last week-it really felt like Christmas-when I opened my May 2016 copy of “The Director” magazine (the NFDA’s glossy trade journal) and found a remarkable article called “Excising a Health Risk: The time to look into formaldehyde-free products is now” by the NDFA’s environmental compliance counsel of twenty-five years, Carol Lynn Green.

11. Ravens Tray Walker Get $16K Custom Louis Vuitton Casket

An extraordinary guy deserves an extraordinary funeral … so says the family of Ravens cornerback Tray Walker who ordered up a custom Ravens-themed casket for his final tribute.

10. Kid Draws The Most Hilarious Funeral Home Ad Ever and It’s Going Viral

Funeral home advertising: maybe not the best art project for children.

According to Redditor joshuar9476, Gilliland and Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg, Indiana asked kids to design their very own ads for the business. Why? We are not sure.

The results, which involve a reanimated corpse singing the business’s praises while an onlooker wonders why it is alive, are equal parts hilarious and macabre.

9. 12 Things I Wish I Knew Before I Became a Funeral Director

This job isn’t sad all the time — seriously.

The job is physically and emotionally draining. If we’re doing two funerals in a day, I’m going to be on my feet moving flowers and carrying caskets to set everything up. You’re also sometimes on call during the middle of the night — not every hospital has a refrigeration system to keep bodies overnight — which can eat into your sleep schedule. It’s emotionally exhausting as well. A lot of deaths are from nursing homes and people under hospice care, but we do get calls to pick up children and victims of trauma.

8. Undertakers use topless models to sell coffins as women pose for calendar draped over caskets

The unusual calendar was inspired by the Pirelli Calendar and uses attractive models to advertise planning for the hereafter

A saucy calendar with a difference has been unveiled for 2016 – featuring models draped over COFFINS .

7. Funeral Director’s Facebook Post Goes Viral

Robert Falcon said he posted several photos of the child on Wednesday, including one of the boy in a small white casket, to encourage the hit-and-run driver to step forward and claim responsibility for taking the child’s life.

“I want you to see these pictures and I want you to know how much it pains me to know that you would run over a child and not stop to render aid,” Falcon wrote.  “I had to listen to a mother and father cry and bargain with God today because you took their son from them.”

6. Death Of A Funeral Director

Today, I was informed that a previous co-worker had lost his long fight with cancer. Although for years, I knew this moment was inevitable, I could not help but let the tears run down my cheeks. There is something that one would (inappropriately) say is ironic about a funeral director passing way.

5. 10 Things To Remember If You Love A Funeral Professional

Advertising executives, teachers, and doctors kind of have it made… at least in one regard.

Most of the time when you flip on a TV drama, the main characters work in one of these professions. Now we all know a regular day on Grey’s Anatomy isn’t exactly an accurate depiction of a doctor’s workday, but between all the drama and tears, the folks watching at home get a general sense that life in these professions is not for the faint of heart.

4. The Life Of A Funeral Director… From Head To Toe

Many of us get up day after day and night after night to juggle the many hats which make up the work we call “funeral directing.” This line of work is very different than most and it is not often easy. It seems to me, however, that we are not limited to the hats we wear. We put our bodies, minds, and very souls into the work we do. Sometimes, quite literally, we put our backs into it as well. From our heads to our toes, our investments are of great importance for many as they walk through the deep pain of loss.

3. The Entire Funeral Profession Freaked Out Over This Picture

This photo was grabbed from the nationally televised funeral of past first lady Nancy Reagan. The uprise has been around how the casket isn’t anywhere near being center – look at it, it’s not even close. So, the question we want to ask is does it really matter?

Judging by some of the comments we have read many of you think it does matter and others say it is a minor detail and as long as the rest of the service went well then it doesn’t matter.

2. This New Maserati Ghibli Hearse is Unbelievably Sexy

As every man is aware, knowing how to make an entrance is an important skill to have in life.

As a new luxury hearse design has made clear, it’s an important skill to have in death as well.

Built by Ellena srl Autotrasformazioni, the Maserati Ghibli Hearse has a regular Ghibli front end but the fiberglass rear bodywork of the vehicle has been modified to accommodate a casket.

1. If You Ever See A Coin Placed On Someone’s Grave, Here’s What It Means

When a cemetery worker found a mysterious quarter on top of a headstone, he decided to do some investigating.

As a proud employee at the National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan, Dave Malenfant decided to share his emotional discovery on Facebook.

One of Malenfant’s responsibilities at the cemetery for fallen soldiers is the “Cleaning of the Stones.” While doing that one day, he noticed a quarter placed on one of the headstones and became curious about it.
