Professionals can make use of turnkey materials to connect with consumers, communities

The Funeral and Memorial Information Council (FAMIC) and its members are pleased to announce a month-long series of interactive and exciting events dedicated to maximizing the visibility of Have the Talk of a Lifetime® as well as driving consumer engagement with participating FAMIC members. FAMIC will celebrate Have the Talk of a Lifetime Month in November of 2016, with the theme “Time for Family, Time for Talk”. November lends itself well for Have the Talk of a Lifetime Month, with key days of recognition (World Kindness Day, National Storytelling Network’s Tellabration! Storytelling Day, Thanksgiving, National Day of Listening and Giving Tuesday) that are complementary to the having the talk with loved ones. More information will be available via a member webinar September 8, 2016 and at www.famic.org.

As part of Have the Talk of a Lifetime Month this November, FAMIC will be offering many free tools and opportunities for consumers and for members to get involved, including:

  • A Have the Talk of a Lifetime Month Member Toolkit and training
  • A downloadable Consumer Holiday Guide with interactive family activities that can be branded for participating members
  • A collaboration with the National Storytelling Network and their Tellabration! event on November 19th – a national night of storytelling.

In addition, there will be a series of smaller events throughout the month that will be promoted directly to consumers, while still offering FAMIC members the tools and means by which to participate in each event on a local level. The events will be promoted through online and social media channels, public relations, and through participation by FAMIC members. Members can look at preparing for and promoting their November events during the month of October, which is national Family History Month.

The Have the Talk of a Lifetime campaign was developed to help educate the public about the importance of talking with their loved ones to ensure that memorialization is a fulfilling and rewarding experience when the time comes. FAMIC launched a consumer advertising and marketing campaign in February, 2016 that has raised awareness through targeted online advertising, social media, public relations, video testimonials and turnkey campaign tools for FAMIC members.

More information and details will be available over the next several months. For more information on Have the Talk of a Lifetime, visit www.famic.org or www.talkofalifetime.org.
