ICCFA University 2026 Concludes Another Transformative Year of Professional Education

STERLING, Va. (August 3, 2026) – The International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association (ICCFA) proudly concluded another successful ICCFA University, held July 17–22, 2026, at the Emory Conference Center Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. Recognized as one of the deathcare profession’s premier educational experiences, ICCFA University brought together 192 cemetery, cremation, funeral service, and supplier professionals for an intensive week of learning designed to strengthen technical expertise, leadership skills, and professional connections that extend well beyond the classroom.

Students participated in one of nine specialized colleges—21st Century Services, Cremation Services, Hospitality & Customer Experience, Land Management & Grounds Operations, Leadership, Management & Administration, Technology, Sales & Marketing, Funeral Home Management, and the School of Graduate Studies—led by some of the profession’s most respected educators and practitioners. Throughout the week, attendees explored timely topics including artificial intelligence, digital marketing, customer experience, hospitality, sustainability, community outreach, leadership development, risk management, and emerging consumer trends through expert-led instruction, collaborative workshops, hands-on learning, and real-world case studies.

Beyond the classroom, ICCFA University continued its tradition of fostering meaningful professional relationships through Student Trivia Night, Sports Night, networking meals, and the Graduate Reception, culminating in the annual Graduation Ceremony recognizing certificate recipients and those completing their fourth college to earn the distinction of ICCFA University Graduate.

The lasting impact of the experience extended well beyond the classroom, reinforcing ICCFA University’s mission to prepare professionals to lead with knowledge, innovation, and compassion.

“ICCFA University continues to demonstrate why education remains one of the greatest investments we can make in the future of our profession,” said Nadira Baddeliyanage, ICCFA Executive Director. “Each year, we watch professionals arrive eager to learn and leave with new skills, fresh perspectives, and lifelong professional relationships. That ripple effect extends far beyond this week, strengthening organizations, communities, and ultimately the families they serve.”

That spirit was especially evident during the Graduation Ceremony, where 2026 ICCFA University Valedictorian Chanin Ricketts of Myrtle Hill Memorial Park in Tampa, Florida, reflected on the shared journey of the graduating class.

“ICCFA University reminded us that learning never ends. Our classrooms became places where ideas were challenged. Our conversations became opportunities for growth. Our instructors generously shared decades of wisdom. And somewhere along the way… classmates became friends.”

For Jeff Kidwiler, CCE, CSE, ICCFA University Chancellor, those moments of growth are what define the ICCFA University experience.

“As Chancellor, one of the most rewarding parts of ICCFA University is watching students grow in confidence throughout the week,” Kidwiler said. “Whether they’re attending their first college or completing their fourth, they are better prepared to lead, innovate, and elevate the profession. That transformation is what makes ICCFA University unlike any other educational experience in deathcare.”

ICCFA President John Bolton, CCE, CCrE, CSE, CXE, said those transformations continue long after students return home.

“Education is at the heart of ICCFA’s mission, but what truly sets ICCFA University apart is the community it creates,” Bolton said. “Students learn from exceptional faculty, challenge one another with new ideas, and build relationships that last throughout their careers. Those connections strengthen not only individual professionals but our entire profession.”

ICCFA also extends its sincere appreciation to the dedicated college deans, faculty members, guest instructors, volunteers, and the ICCFA Educational Foundation, whose continued support—including scholarships awarded to over 100 ICCFA members—helps make this exceptional educational experience possible each year.
