Rollings Funeral Service Announces Addition of New York Funeral Home

PEACHTREE CITY, GA — Rollings Funeral Service is proud to announce their recent addition of Bond Funeral Home in Schenectady, New York. The funeral home, which has been serving its community since 1923, was formerly owned by Robert “Bob” Bond.

Greg Rollings, President & CEO of Rollings Funeral Service, commented “Starting with Bob’s grandfather in the 1920s, Bond Funeral Home has continued to be operated on strong family values and ideals and that sense of family is something I always look for when bringing in new funeral homes. Over the past 100 years, the Bonds have built a solid reputation of trust and quality when caring for families and I know we’ll be the perfect partner in helping continue that reputation.” Rollings also mentioned this marks his fifth partnership in New York.

The funeral home was founded in 1923 by Bond’s grandfather, Romine R. Bond. Over the years Bond’s father and uncle (Romine Bond’s two sons) came to own the funeral home, working there until their retirements in the 1990s. It was during that time that Bond then took ownership. Since the late 1920s, the funeral home has served families out of the historic Westinghouse mansion in Schenectady. The mansion was built in 1887 by American entrepreneur George Westinghouse for his mother.

Speaking with Bob Bond, he mentioned that with over 40 years in funeral service and his family following different career paths, it was time to start slowing down and looking who next to pass the family business to. When asked why he decided to partner with Rollings Funeral Service, Bond said “Greg wanted to keep everything structured the same. It’s good to know that down the line the family name will still be carried on.” Seeing how professional everyone at Rollings Funeral Service was during the onboarding process is also something that left Bond feeling he had made the right decision. “Everyone at Rollings has been great and helpful. They’re always there to answer any question and they’ve been very organized. So far it has been a good transition process,” Bond noted.

Annually Bond Funeral Home serves over 150 families.
