Leading Cremation Expert Launches Cremation and Funeral Consulting Service

Nationally recognized cremation expert Mike Nicodemus has formed a new consulting group, Nicodemus & Associates, which will provide on-site consulting services to funeral homes and crematories in a number of areas including business operational assessments; crematory site and process inspections; staff training; marketing; technology; and policy and procedure reviews.

“It seems like the needs of families are changing faster than ever before; just doing your best won’t make you stand out from your competitors,” said Nicodemus. “My team and I have years and years of experience working with families and managing funeral homes. We’re eager to share what we know – proven and practical solutions and best practices – to help funeral homes grow and thrive, and address issues to help crematories avoid litigation”.

Nicodemus was recently named vice president of cremation services for the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA). Before joining the NFDA staff, Nicodemus served as vice president of cremation operations at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Homes in the Tidewater, Virginia – area, for 34 years; he continues to assist families on an as-needed basis. Nicodemus previously served as president of the Cremation Association of North America (CANA) and chairman of CANA’s Crematory Operators Certification Program. Nicodemus is a highly sought after speaker on the national and state level, and has been retained as an expert witness in numerous cremation-related lawsuits.

Nicodemus and his team have more than 100 hundred years of experience in funeral service, cremation, marketing, branding, and technology. Other consultants include:

  • Lawrence G. Little, owner of Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services, which is headquartered in Aldergrove, British Columbia, Canada.
  • Walker Posey, funeral director and managing partner of Posey Funeral Directors in North Augusta, S.C.
  • Patricia Hamilton, founder and president of Hamilton Consulting Group in Roanoke, Va.

Consulting services will be available to any funeral home or crematory in the United States and around the world, but NFDA members will receive an exclusive discount on the fee.
