Legacy.com Pushing Trappist Urns, Caskets?

Legacy.com made some waves throughout the funeral profession Wednesday when they sent out an email to hundreds of independently owned funeral homes pushing Trappist Urn. The image below is what was sent in the email.

I received a number of emails about this, many funeral directors didn’t understand why Legacy.com was pushing urns for Trappist when they are partnered with Batesville who has their own Urn line, and most funeral directors didn’t understand why Legacy.com would even push urns in the first place.

Is Legacy.com going to start pushing Trappist Caskets as well; that question was raised by a number of directors I talked to. Also, what does Batesville think about this? Facts are facts, Legacy.com is pushing urns (and possibly caskets) for a competitor of Batesville’s, who is in a partnership with Legacy.com.

Is there more to this story or am I (and a number of large independent funeral directors) reading to much into this?
