Mortuary Lift Company Featured on CNN
Cedar Rapids, Iowa, November 2015 — TV celebrity Mike Rowe paid a visit to The Mortuary Lift Company in his search for unique businesses – and the innovative individuals who run them – to feature on his reality show, “Somebody’s Gotta Do It,” now in its third season on CNN. Rowe was intrigued when he learned about Katie Hill and the company she owns and operates, particularly its flagship product, The Ultimate 1000 Lift™. As a result of that visit, Mortuary Lift, Hill and The Ultimate 1000 Lift were featured in a segment on the Wednesday, October 28 show.
Rowe, also known for his 10 years doing “Dirty Jobs” on the Discovery Channel and his lead role in the Ford truck television ads, was a good match for the affable Hill. “Mike is such a likeable guy, a real character,” reports Hill. “His easygoing attitude made the process truly fun.” Like most people, Rowe hadn’t considered the need for a device that assists funeral professionals by lifting the bodies they are preparing, creating a safe work environment and allowing one person to do the job. He and Hill bantered a bit before Hill strapped him in the Ultimate 1000 and moved him easily around the preparation room. His assessment? The Ultimate 1000 Lift is comfortable. “Mike came away with a better understanding of the challenges faced by funeral professionals every day,” notes Hill.
