Funeral Professionals Award Highest Scores to Batesville in Annual Casket Survey

BATESVILLE, IN., Sept. 10, 2015 – Batesville, the leading provider of comprehensive solutions to the death care industry, has once again received the industry’s top scores in Product Quality, Service and Innovation in the annual Casket Survey conducted by Funeral Service Insider (FSI), a Kates-Boylston publication. This is the second consecutive year the company has received the top ranking from funeral professionals in all categories, leading all other manufacturers.

“Funeral professionals put themselves on the line every day to serve families,” said Troy Turner, chief marketing officer for Batesville. “We understand how important it is to get the right product to the right place at the right time. Customers know they can count on Batesville to consistently deliver high quality products and outstanding service.”

While many aspects of funeral service are changing, the foundational elements have stayed the same. Survey participants rated the following four things as most important: 1) Service – which includes fast delivery and product availability; 2) Product quality/workmanship; 3) Competitive prices/discounts;                  4) Performance/attitude of the sales representative.

As the industry leader, Batesville has been in the spotlight before, but the company does not take this honor lightly. “Our greatest measure of success is when our customers are satisfied,” said Turner.  “That’s when we know our investments to improve manufacturing, drive efficiencies in transportation and maintain competitive pricing are making a difference – to funeral directors and families.”

Batesville continued to lead all manufacturers in Product Innovation, with more than 75% of respondents citing it as the leader. According to Turner, innovation starts with listening to the needs of customers and consumers, taking time to really understand the gaps and asking how things could be better. Batesville regularly uses a variety of research techniques and practices to stay connected with its customers. Turner says this constant dialogue helps the company fine-tune its offerings and stay focused on things that matter most to its customers.

This year’s survey drew responses from nearly 330 people funeral professionals who shared their insights on cremation rates, pricing strategies, selection rooms, personalization offerings, and other topics.

Funeral Homes are Struggling to Keep Their Doors Open

Ryan Thogmartin - August 13, 2017

This is a topic and conversation that does not get talked about or covered enough. We all want to put the blame on cremation and ignore the fact that many of the issues facing funeral homes aren't because families choose cremation but because of bad business decisions of many funeral directors who don't want to change or accept cremation.
