In a move that further expands corporate consolidation within northern Illinois’s death care market, Park Lawn has officially acquired substantially all of the assets of Honquest Family Funeral Homes, according to a press release.
The acquisition adds two established locations in Loves Park and Roscoe to Park Lawn’s rapidly growing regional footprint. Founded and built from the ground up over three decades ago by former owner Timothy Honquest, the funeral home group has long been a staple in the Winnebago County community.
“After building Honquest Family Funeral Homes from the ground up, I’m proud to see the business enter its next chapter with Park Lawn,” said Honquest. “I’m confident in their commitment to our families, our team, and the community we’ve served for more than 30 years.”
Markus Sturm, President of Park Lawn, welcomed the addition, emphasizing the operator’s intention to maintain local ties while expanding capabilities across the state. “We’re pleased to welcome the Honquest team to Park Lawn,” Sturm said in a press release. “We look forward to building on the tradition Tim and his team have established in the community.”
Deepening Roots in Winnebago County
The addition of Honquest’s Loves Park and Roscoe chapels significantly strengthens Park Lawn’s presence in the greater Rockford area. Park Lawn already holds a firm foothold in the market through Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, operating key locations such as the Mulford Chapel and the Rockton Chapel in Rockford.
By layering the Honquest properties onto its existing operations, Park Lawn effectively secures a major share of funeral, cremation, and pre-planning services spanning from southern Rockford north to the Wisconsin border.
