Industry veteran Rachel Moring and NextGen set a new standard for how families plan and pre-fund their pets’ final care, opening a turnkey new revenue stream for funeral partners nationwide

PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss., June 1, 2026. Paws Up Preneed (PUP), the first preneed planning and pre-funding platform designed exclusively for pet funeral services, is officially open for distribution nationwide. Born from more than a decade of vision and 25 years of funeral industry experience, Paws Up Preneed gives families a meaningful, accessible way to plan and pay in advance for the final care of their beloved animal companions and gives funeral partners a turnkey way to offer it.

A Vision Over a Decade in the Making

Rachel Moring, founder of NextGen and a 25-year veteran of the funeral profession, has long recognized a critical gap in the market. While more funeral partners operate pet cemeteries, cremation services, and pet funeral homes, families have had no structured way to pre-plan or pre-fund those services. Paws Up Preneed was created to change that.

“Through the years we kept hearing, ‘I wish I could have done this ahead of time,'” said Moring. “Families shouldn’t have to face the emotional and financial pressure of arranging their pet’s services without preparation. Paws Up Preneed gives them the time and the tools to do it right.”

A Strategic Partnership Comes to Life

In December, Richard Martin, a longtime industry colleague, reached out to Moring to explore opportunities in the funeral space. Recognizing a shared vision and complementary expertise, the two joined forces. Together with the NextGen platform and its suite of marketing and operational tools, Martin and Moring built Paws Up Preneed from the ground up, creating a solution that is now ready for nationwide distribution.

“We didn’t set out to fill a gap, we set out to set the standard,” said Richard Martin, Chief Growth Officer and Head of Product. “Families have been able to plan ahead for every member of their family except one. We built Paws Up Preneed from the ground up so pet owners, and the funeral partners who serve them, finally have a trusted, nationwide way to do this with dignity.”

How Paws Up Preneed Works

Paws Up Preneed offers a simple, compassionate framework for families and their funeral service partners:

  • Pre-plan final wishes for pets of all kinds, so those wishes are documented and honored.
  • Set aside funds in advance, so families are not caught off guard by unexpected costs at an emotionally difficult time.
  • Pay over time with flexible options that make preneed planning accessible for families of every budget.

Setting a New Industry Standard

As pet cemeteries, pet cremation, and pet funeral homes have grown in number, the profession has lacked a consistent, dedicated way to offer preneed planning for pets. Paws Up Preneed establishes that standard: a single, nationwide framework that brings the same preparation, documentation, and financial protection families expect for human services to the care of their animal companions.

A New Revenue Stream for Funeral Partners

As the pet funeral industry has evolved, partners and their pet-owning clients have increasingly looked for a way to fund cash advance items through their own pet cemeteries, and Paws Up Preneed now gives them that option. The absence of a dedicated preneed platform has left revenue on the table and families underserved. Paws Up Preneed gives funeral partners a turnkey solution to offer pre-planning to their pet-owning clients, deepening relationships and expanding their service offerings.

“Pets are family,” Moring added. “Our partners already know this. They see it every day. Paws Up Preneed simply gives everyone the tools to act on it.”
