Cold Hands Embalming Tip of the Week: Hypo Inject With Confidence and Use 32 Index or Higher
Understanding the full capacity of the chemical wonders I have in my arsenal is one of the most impactful ways I help funeral homes and families save money. It is also just amazingly fun embalming science!
Embalmers have limited time to manage life’s challenges. When you are an Embalmer time seems to be fleeting and time with family and friends is precious. I use chemicals I can count on that are 32 index or higher for hypo injection work. I like an arterial with ? salt that controls dehydration and ultimately helps to enhance over all preservation. Because I’m mostly on the road I need to carry a standard fluid that can be used on a normal or the most difficult decomp case.
I have found that Frigid Fluid Company makes a no-nonsense fluid that is simply simply called “Standard 32 index” that is great for hypo work. Dodge Chemical Company makes “Permaglo 35” and Pierce Chemical Company has “Energized 36” index. Both impress me as well.
??? Pro Tip: I use 32 index arterial solution or higher that is left over in my tank to hypo areas I was not able to embalm through the arterial system. I focus on the gluteal region including the gluteus medius and the flanks for posted cases.
