Brookfield, Wis. – NorthStone Country Club, located just outside Charlotte, N.C., hosted 125 golfers for a day of golf in spite of an early morning thunderstorm. The 2012 Golf Classic, held on October 7 in conjunction with the NFDA International Convention & Expo, raised money for the Funeral Service Foundation’s mission of supporting career and professional development in funeral service, the advancement of funeral service and allied professions, public awareness and education, and the improvement of children’s lives.
The magnificent course was in great shape in spite of the downpour early in the morning. First place team, from left, consisted of Troy Matthews, Ed Kidder, Ralph Owen, Jerry Warne and Keith Roberson. Second place finishers were Rich Fisher, Steve Jackson, Mike Shelton and Mark Hutton.
For the first time in NorthStone Country Club’s history and the FSF Golf Classic’s history, there was a winner in the $10,000 Putting Contest sponsored by Carmon Community Funeral Homes. Eight names were selected and the field was narrowed down to two players who putted for a chance to split the money. Congratulations to David Brennan from East Haven Memorial Funeral Home in Connecticut for making the 60 foot putt to win $5,000.
