imageThis is an update to an article we posted earlier saying that the Golden Casket company had made a big mistake. We received a call from the owner of the Golden Casket company who forwarded the following article to us to set the record straight.

Article From MSN.com:

Ailing film star Zsa Zsa Gabor, who has recently had her leg amputated, has been offered a gold coffin worth $40,000 as a gift, according to reports.

The coffin-making company, The Golden Casket, is reported to have sent a letter to Gabor?s publicist last Friday asking if the 93-year-old would like one of the caskets as a gift ? despite the fact that she is not yet dead.

The letter states: “We would like to honour Zsa Zsa Gabor by providing an exquisite, handcrafted, pure 24k gold casket.”

“We believe Zsa Zsa would want to be forever remembered as she has always been in life ? beautiful, elegant, uncompromising and completely original.”

Gabor?s husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, 67, is reported to have said: “I?m going to take the casket and have the gold melted to get a nice ring out of it. These are some f****** sick people!”

But the coffin makers have hit back, saying that their offer was not in poor taste or premature and that Von Anhalt had actually expressed an interest in accepting the coffin after the letter was sent to Gabor?s publicist, John Blanchette.

?It was a heartfelt offer to someone we admire,? said Edward Balfour, head of sales at the Connecticut-based company.

?I don?t know why this has been received so negatively. We know that Zsa Zsa Gabor may not need the coffin for some time, but all our coffins are custom-made so they need to pre-ordered well in advance. If she had accepted the gift, we would have begun to make it. It takes over 200 hours to make each coffin.?

He added: ?John Blanchette called us to say the prince is very interested in this casket and he asked that further information be sent to him personally and directly. We have voicemail proof of this call,? said Balfour.

?But now everyone is panning us out there. We are just a company that makes beautiful coffins. We really didn?t mean to offend anyone.?

The article above is in response to the below article posted earlier today:

Actress and internationally known socialite Zsa Zsa Gabor was contacted through her Bel Air residence by The Golden Casket Co. and shipped a free golden coffin — however, Gabor’s husband, Frederic Prinz Von Anhalt, claims he has other ideas for the surprise bestowal.

TMZ reports that the stately, $40,000, sarcophagus-like casket was already shipped out and received on Friday.

Accompanying the ghoulish “gift” was a letter from the company explaining, “We would like to honor Zsa Zsa Gabor by providing an exquisite, handcrafted, pure 24k gold casket.”

However, there is 1 hitch — the aged TV personality is still alive. And even in the best of times, receiving a surprise, complimentary casket while you are still living is hardly a compliment.

The letter also says, “We believe Zsa Zsa would want to be forever remembered as she has always been in life — beautiful, elegant, uncompromising and completely original.”

Gabor’s husband told the online tabloid that he “will take the casket and have the gold melted to get a nice ring out of it. These are some f***ing sick people,” he added.

Meanwhile, Gabor and her husband have listed their Bel Air home for $28 million as a way to recoup the $10 million they claim was lost in Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme. On Friday, Von Anhalt told ABC’s Good Morning America viewers that there is one small condition — the new owners wouldn’t be allowed to move in until after Zsa Zsa’s death.
