Rachel Moring: A New Generation of Leadership in Funeral Service

In an industry rooted in compassion, trust, and tradition, Rachel Moring is helping lead funeral service into the future while never losing sight of the relationships and values that matter most.

A native of the New Orleans and Gulf South region, Rachel has spent more than two decades building a career centered around helping families, supporting funeral homes, and creating meaningful connections within the communities she serves. Today, as the Founder and CEO of NextGen Legacy Planning, she is recognized as one of the emerging female leaders in the preneed and funeral profession.

Rachel’s story began in the funeral profession at a young age, following in the footsteps of her father, a respected preneed specialist. She began working with funeral homes in Hammond, Albany, and Ponchatoula, Louisiana, developing firsthand experience in family service, preneed planning, marketing, and relationship development. Over the years, she built a reputation for leadership, innovation, and an unmatched passion for helping funeral homes grow while maintaining compassionate care for families.

Throughout her career, Rachel achieved numerous milestones, including becoming one of the first female regional managers within her organization and earning top sales and leadership awards year after year within the insurance and preneed profession. Her dedication to excellence was formally recognized in 2025 when she received the “Outstanding Excellence, Superior Performance and Dedicated Service” award from the Louisiana Funeral Directors Association South District in Louisiana.

In 2025, Rachel officially launched NextGen Legacy Planning with a vision of creating something different within funeral service a company built not only around growth and strategy, but also around culture, mentorship, innovation, and long-term relationships. The company provides funeral homes with preneed marketing, aftercare programs, CRM support, staffing assistance, consulting, lead generation, community outreach, and digital marketing solutions tailored specifically to the funeral profession.

Under Rachel’s leadership, NextGen Legacy Planning has quickly developed a reputation for combining modern marketing tools with deeply personal service. Her philosophy is simple: funeral service is ultimately about people, relationships, and helping families during life’s most difficult moments. Rachel believes funeral homes should have access to the tools and education needed to grow sustainably while maintaining dignity and compassion in every interaction.

Outside of business, Rachel has remained deeply involved in civic, cultural, and volunteer organizations throughout Louisiana and the Gulf South. Her volunteer efforts reflect her commitment to service beyond the workplace. She has served with the Junior League of New Orleans for many years, supporting numerous community initiatives benefiting children and families. She has also volunteered with the Louisiana Funeral Directors Association, the Wreaths Across America program at Chalmette Battlefield, the Audubon Nature Institute, and the New Orleans Hispanic Heritage Foundation and countless more.

Rachel’s international volunteer work also helped shape her perspective. During time spent abroad in Cairo, Egypt, she participated in ministry outreach projects and served with the Maadi British Women’s Association while continuing volunteer efforts that focused on community and humanitarian support.

Those who know Rachel often describe her as driven, authentic, compassionate, and fiercely loyal to the people and communities she serves. While she is passionate about business growth and innovation, she is equally passionate about mentoring others within the funeral profession, especially men and women entering leadership roles in a historically male-dominated industry.

Rachel continues to advocate for modernizing funeral service while preserving the traditions and care families rely upon. Through NextGen Legacy Planning, she hopes to continue helping funeral homes evolve, empowering agents and professionals, and building a legacy of compassion, innovation, and community impact throughout the Southeast and beyond.

As funeral service continues to evolve for a new generation, Rachel Moring is proving that leadership rooted in heart, integrity, and vision can leave a lasting impact on both the profession and the families it serves.
