OGR To Host Young Professionals Event In Austin, TX February 19-21, 2017

AUSTIN, TX – January 2017 – The International Order of the Golden Rule (OGR), the world’s leading professional association dedicated to serving independent funeral homes, is excited to announce its Young Professionals Event, “Shatter Expectations: Takeaways for the New Generation of Funeral Professionals”, will be held in Austin, TX from February 19-21, 2017. “We are looking forward to hosting up and coming funeral professionals from around North America and beyond,” said Jessica Smith, Assistant Executive Director for OGR. “This event is in its second year and will foster new relationships for the next generation of funeral service professionals.”

Participants will gain insights into how they can successfully woo cremation families, master technology in their funeral homes, and leave behind cookie-cutter funerals to help families plan meaningful funeral and memorial services. Attendees will also have the opportunity to share their areas of expertise with each other in roundtable sessions and short educational presentations. This two-and-a-half day event will feature a generous mix of education peppered with a taste of Austin food, fun and culture. “Shatter Expectations” will feature excursions around Austin, education sessions over happy hour, and dining at restaurants around town so attendees can experience the “foodie town” of Austin.

“Shatter Expectations: Takeaways for the New Generation of Funeral Professionals” is a small group, hands-on event which will give attendees the chance to meet like-minded professionals, grow in their careers, and learn new techniques they can implement immediately upon their return to work. “Our goal is to offer a new approach to the traditional conference. Attendees will take home a new perspective on funeral service and how they can address the future of their businesses and have fun while doing it,” said Smith. Registration information can be found at www.ogr.org/young-professionals. Attendees can earn up to 8 CEUs in states where approved.
