Invite To Screen ‘A Will for the Woods’ Documentary In Las Vegas

The following email was sent to members of ICCFA yesterday. It’s an invite to screen the documentary ‘A Will for the Woods’ at the ICCFA Convention in Las Vegas this coming April. The documentary was created to raise awareness for green burial and how those services can be honoring and dignified.

Dear ICCFA Member,

We’re writing to invite you to the screening of our green burial feature documentary, A Will for the Woods, at this year’s ICCFA Convention in Las Vegas. We hope to engage the funeral industry about this option, which is growing in popularity as people connect to the idea of their disposition plans benefiting the environment and conserving natural areas.

Your presence at the screening and participation in the dialogue after the film would be greatly appreciated. In addition to raising awareness about green burial, we feel the film will show the general public the honor, dignity and value provided by those working in end-of-life professions.

About the film:

What if our “last act” could be a gift to the planet–a force for regeneration? Musician, folk dancer and psychiatrist Clark Wang prepares for his own green burial, determined that his final resting place will benefit the earth.

The film has won multiple awards:

  • Audience Awards at Full Frame Film Festival, The New Orleans Film Festival and The Rhode Island Film Festival
  • The Jury Award and Audience Award at San Francisco Indie Fest
  • The Programmer’s Award at The Virginia Film Festival
  • Environmental Awards at Full Frame and Greentopia Film Festivals

Screening details:

Filmmakers and two people featured in the film, cemetarian Dyanne Matzkevich and Green Burial Council president Brian Flowers, will be in attendance for a post-screening Q&A

When: Wednesday, April 9, 4 to 6 p.m.

Where: General Session Area/Shoreline A

Whether or not you are able to make it to the screening at ICCFA, we hope we can share the film with you at some point. If you are interested in staying informed about it, including upcoming screenings, please like us on Facebook and/or sign up for periodic updates.
