PLPA, Two Hearts to Present Webinar Series on Grieving the Loss of a Pet

STERLING, VA — The Pet Loss Professionals Alliance (PLPA), in conjunction with Two Hearts Pet Loss Center, is presenting a series of monthly webinars on pet loss and grief from August through December 2011. The five classes have been developed to help pet loss professionals, funeral directors and veterinarians understand the process people go through when grieving the loss of a pet and provide them with the skills they need to help walk their clients through that process.

The webinar topics and dates are as follows:

  • August 16: Pet Loss Companioning Basics
  • September 20: What the Grieving Pet Parent Needs
  • October 18: Marketing Your Pet Loss Services
  • November 15: Various Age Segments & Pet Loss
  • December 20: How to Conduct a Pet Loss Support Group

The sessions will be presented by Coleen Ellis, co-chair of the PLPA and president of Two Hearts Pet Loss Center, a consulting company based in Greenwood, Indiana. She was founder of Pet Angel Memorial Center, the first stand-alone pet-only funeral home in the United States. Ellis is a frequent speaker on pet loss issues and has contributed articles and participated in interviews with ICCFA Magazine, Pet Loss Insider and ConnectingDirectors.com. She recently was awarded the first Death and Grief Studies Certification specializing in Pet Loss Companioning by the Center for Loss in Fort Collins, Colorado.

The webinars are inexpensive and convenient, requiring no travel costs. Each session will be conducted via phone and online from 5 to 6 p.m. Eastern time. The cost is $39 per session; $30 per session for PLPA members.
