Funeral homes can now order decks customized with their funeral home logo
Brookfield, Wis. – Funeral professionals can help bring families closer together to talk about family history, great experiences, lessons learned and how they want to be remembered with new Have the Talk of a Lifetime Conversation Cards created by the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA). This simple deck of 50 cards, each featuring a simple question a person can ask a loved one to learn more about their lives, is an ideal addition to holiday gatherings – or any time throughout the year.
This new resource, which helps advance the Funeral and Memorial Information Council’s Have the Talk of a Lifetime consumer education initiative, was developed by NFDA and is being promoted in partnership with the Funeral Service Foundation.
The cards made their debut during the 2016 NFDA International Convention & Expo. While introducing the cards, NFDA CEO Christine Pepper, CAE, said, “This box has the power to transform a family gathering, reunion or car trip into an opportunity to immediately begin having the talk of a lifetime. All you have to do is open the box and start asking questions. Then the magic happens.”
Questions in the deck include:
- What is the best lesson you learned from your mom, dad or other role model?
- What personal event(s) have most shaped your life?
- Describe the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done.
- How do you want to be remembered?
The Have the Talk of a Lifetime Conversation Cards are an excellent tool for funeral directors to use with families and the community to help people discover the unique lives their loved ones have led and, in turn, be better prepared to appropriately memorialize a loved one when the time comes.
They make a meaningful and cost-effective thank you gift after a funeral or for families that have prearranged a service; they would make a wonderful keepsake during a holiday service of remembrance. Funeral directors may wish to have decks of cards throughout the funeral home for families to use during a visitation or service.
They are perfect giveaways for a community event or a funeral home open house. They are an ideal tool for reaching out to hospices and other end-of-life professionals; these individuals may want to use the conversation cards with the families they serve.
NFDA members and members of FAMIC organizations may purchase the cards for $5 per deck; nonmembers may purchase the cards for $10 per deck. Volume discounts are available for orders of more than 1,000 decks.
Funeral directors may also order decks customized with their funeral home’s logo and/or text on the back of the box; a minimum order of 100 decks is required for customized decks. Funeral professionals should visit www.nfda.org/havethetalk
