A Public Relations Opportunity for Cemeteries: Memorial Day Photo Contest

Cemeteries can create positive publicity and enhance their Memorial Day programs by participating in Funeralwise.com’s Photo Contest

Chicago, IL, April 19, 2016 – Funeralwise.com invites cemeteries to participate in its 2016 Capture Memorial Day Photo Contest. This photography contest will recognize and reward photographers whose images convey the meaning and emotion associated with Memorial Day in cemeteries across the United States.

“People were enthusiastic about the photo contests we ran in our cemetery over the years. There is no better time to promote your cemetery than Memorial Day. A photo contest is the perfect event to generate positive publicity and bring people out,” says Larry Anspach, co-founder of Funeralwise.com and former cemetery owner.

Photos will be judged on their creativity, photographic quality and the ideas/emotions conveyed. A panel of judges will narrow the entries to at least 12 finalists and the public will be invited to vote for their favorites. Cash prizes, with a $500 Grand Prize, will be awarded for images submitted to Funeralwise.com by June 6, 2016.

“We ran our first Memorial Day photo contest several years ago and it was very well received. To participate, a cemetery just needs to get the word out — invite the community to take photos in their park and then submit their best shots to the contest,” said Funeralwise.com Managing Partner Rick Paskin. “This is a turn-key public relations program. We do all the work to run the contest and award the prizes. Cemeteries can take advantage of our national contest to generate favorable publicity and goodwill locally.”

Participation in the photo contest is free of charge to all U.S cemeteries. More information, as well as promotional ideas, and boilerplate copy for news releases and flyers, can be found at www.funeralwise.com/business/promotions.
