LEGACY.COM Helps Charities Raise Over $150,000 In First Give To Remember Event

Top Fundraisers Include Final Salute, Ty Louis Campbell Foundation & The Funeral Service Foundation

Jan 15, 2016 – EVANSTON, IL – Legacy.com, the Internet’s leader in obituaries and related services, announces the successful close of its first Give to Remember Event. Participating charities began fundraising on Giving Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 and continued outreach in partnership with Legacy.com for the full calendar month. 13 charities in total participated in the month-long Give to Remember campaign, raising $167,000 including $50,000 in matching funds from Legacy.com. “Legacy.com helps charities raise memorial funds every day in supporting traditional giving from obituaries. This event was an opportunity for us to double up our support for our inspirational charity partners as we remember the people who made a difference in our lives,” shares Steve Parrott, President and CEO of Legacy.com.

Final Salute raised more funds than any other charity in the the event. Final Salute seeks to end homelessness with a focus on underserved female veterans and their children. Founder Jas Boothe is delighted with the results. “Because of our partnership with Legacy.com and the donors that supported this giving campaign, our mortgage on our transitional home for women veterans will be entirely covered for the 2016 year! 2015 was one of the lowest giving years across the board for non-profits, but with the help of Legacy.com, we have ensured the women veterans and children we serve and support were not forgotten.”

Cindy Campbell, founder of Ty Louis Campbell Foundation, confides “It was truly such a pleasure working with Legacy on this campaign. Legacy.com is an admirable brand that manages to find the impossible balance between understanding the grief while celebrating the legacy.” Her son, Ty Louis Campbell, left a huge legacy for such a little boy and Cindy is growing that mission every day by funding pediatric cancer research and support.

The Funeral Service Foundation rounds out the top three fundraisers. For more than 70 years, this professional organization has served funeral service professionals and supported their efforts to assist grieving families. Danelle O’Neill, Executive Director of the foundation, shares, “Helping families cope with the grief and care for their loved one at the end of a life is a calling. The funds we raised will help us equip funeral service professionals with tools, resources and scholarships to help them build healthy, healing relationships in their communities.”
