Legacy.com Shines Spotlight on Original Content
Oct 08, 2015 – EVANSTON, IL – Legacy.com, the Internet’s leader in obituaries and related services, officially debuts a new features section today with original articles on topics examining life and death. Each feature article is built with a simple updated responsive design that’s optimized for sharing.
Halley Burns, Senior Managing Editor shares, “I was initially a bit intimidated by the idea of working with content related to death, but the people behind the stories couldn’t be more wonderful.” Burns’s team has created a series of interviews giving voice to the terminally ill, explored death cafes and educated readers about natural burial options, to name a few recent projects. Topics range from celebrity deaths to everyday heroes we should know, from practical guides on funeral etiquette to articles on how sharing a secret might be a first step in preventing a suicide. These articles managed to capture a younger audience despite a lack of mobile-friendly features, but thanks to the new design, the more than a million visitors who come to the site each day through mobile devices will enjoy a dramatically better experience.
Kim Evenson, Chief Marketing Officer, adds “My goal is to take the site from death to life. We are a unique site where people are contemplating some big questions from what they miss most about the people they love to how to help those still healing. We have an opportunity to be a force for good in sharing some of those central human insights.” Evenson was inspired to ask some of those big questions directly in her Meaning of Life Project, another series on the site. “People ask if my job is depressing, but it’s quite the opposite. We get to think a lot about life and making all the moments matter.”
