NFDA Convention Housing Opens, Sets Record

Brookfield, Wis. – According to Experient Housing Bureau, the official housing bureau for the 2015 National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) International Convention & Expo, funeral professionals booked 1,654 room nights in a matter of four hours on April 1, the first day attendees could book reservations (1,915 room nights were booked within eight hours of housing opening; 2,026 room nights were booked during the first 24 hours). In 2014, 1,523 room nights were booked during the first three days housing was open. The NFDA International Convention & Expo will take place October 18-21 in Indianapolis, Ind.

“It is absolutely incredible that more than 2,000 rooms for our 2015 Convention were booked so quickly,” said NFDA Senior Vice President Connie Smith. “This demonstrates that members, suppliers and other funeral professionals know that the NFDA Convention is an unmatched opportunity for education, exhibits, networking and fellowship. Funeral professionals eagerly anticipate the day and time housing opens just like a concert event. It’s amazing.”

Smith urges funeral directors and suppliers who want to attend convention to book their hotel rooms as soon as possible, because some hotels are already sold out.

“While the deadline to book hotel rooms is September 25, we encourage everyone who is planning to join us in Indianapolis to book their rooms early,” she said. “In the past, room blocks have sold out. Given the response yesterday, I am sure that our room blocks will fill up sooner than they did last year.”

Attendees can choose from several reasonably-priced hotels within walking distance of the Indiana Convention Center. The 2015 NFDA Convention website, www.nfda.org/indy2015, has complete details about each of the NFDA Convention hotels; attendees can use the NFDA Housing Bureau to compare hotel rates and amenities, and make reservations.
