Funeral Service Foundation to Award Five NFDA Professional Women’s Conference Scholarships

Brookfield, Wis. – In alignment with its mission to fund projects and programs that support all of funeral service in building meaningful relationships in the community, the Funeral Service Foundation is now accepting applications for its Professional Women’s Conference Scholarship. The application deadline is March 1, 2015.

The Professional Women’s Conference Scholarship is designed to support career and professional development for women in funeral service by helping offset the costs associated with attending NFDA’s annual Professional Women’s Conference, which will be held April 24-26 in Chicago, Illinois.

The Foundation will award up to five scholarships that will cover the recipients’ conference registration fees, and provide a $1,000 travel and accommodation stipend. Applicants must be verifiably employed in funeral service or a related occupation, or a student of funeral service enrolled in an American Board of Funeral Service Education-accredited program. Those interested in applying for a scholarship should visit FuneralServiceFoundation.org to download the application materials.

“Since 2002 generous contributions from our donors have allowed the Foundation to award Professional Women’s Conference Scholarships to women who are making strides in our profession,” said Kathy Wisnefski, executive director of the Funeral Service Foundation. “The Foundation and its supporters are honored that this scholarship makes it possible for deserving women from across the profession to come together to network, collaborate and learn from one another.”

Along with professional development scholarships, the Funeral Service Foundation also administers academic scholarships for full- and part-time students of funeral service enrolled in (or accepted into) a mortuary science program at an ABFSE-accredited school. Academic scholarship applications will be available online in the coming weeks.

Since 2002 nearly 500 funeral service professionals have received Funeral Service Foundation scholarships to pursue academic and professional development opportunities. Please visit FuneralServiceFoundation.org for more information on how to contribute to, apply for or establish a scholarship fund.
