200 Cremation Caskets For Sale on Ebay, Bidding Starts at $0.99

When I first saw this headline I chuckled, then I thought, “what the heck, who is selling these, this has to be a joke” then I clicked the Ebay link and was quite surprised.

The listing was in fact real and it was for 200 cremation caskets. The bidding is set to start at $0.99, if you don’t want to have a bidding war; there is always the “Buy Now” price of $35,000. The listing says that the price has been reduced for quick sale.

First, I was glad to see that the seller is not a box store like Walmart, Cosco, or online retail giant Amazon. The seller is non-profit “Operation Noah’s Ark” and they are selling the caskets, which were donated by ACE CASKETS LTD, to raise money for the charity.

Operation Noah’s Ark has a mission statement that reads:

To provide burial and bereavement services and products to the underprivileged families who have suffered the loss of a loved one and who cannot afford the costs associated with services for the deceased.

This is an innovative approach to raising money and I applaud ACE CASKETS for donating the product.

The auction ends in 1 day so you better start bidding!

One Question:

Is there any concern that a non-funeral industry person might purchase these products and resell them?
