Physicians Mutual Receives Promise to the Earth Award
Omaha, Neb. (May 9, 2014) – Physicians Mutual has been awarded the Promise to the Earth Award from the Arbor Day Foundation. The award recognizes the sustained commitment and leadership by a corporation partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation on special projects. The company was presented with the distinctive award at the recent Arbor Day Foundation’s annual Arbor Day Awards held in Nebraska City, Neb.

Physicians Mutual has helped plant more than 250,000 trees over the past ten years in its partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, including such sites as the Ocala National Forest in Florida, the Huron-Manistee National Forests in Michigan, and Bastrop State Park in Texas. Through the Arbor Day Foundation’s “Trees in Memory” program, Physicians Mutual helps to plant a tree in memory of customers at the time of their death. And through the “Trees in Celebration” program, Physicians Mutual helps to plant a tree in honor of a customer’s birthday.
To celebrate its 10 year partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, Physicians Mutual recently announced the “Plant One, Celebrate Many” campaign, inviting the Facebook community to join in a 10,000 tree pledge. Visitors to the page can designate a tree to be planted in honor of a friend or loved one and include a personal note. The 10,000 trees will help to restore Oglala National Grasslands which was badly damaged by wildfire in 2012.
