H.S. Eckels and Company Announces the Appointment of José Luis Moreno

H.S. Eckels and Company is pleased to announce the appointment of José Luis Moreno to the Eckels sales representative team. José Luis Moreno is an assistant professor of Mortuary Science at San Antonio College and a doctoral student at Texas State University in the Adult, Professional, and Community Education Program. He holds a license as a funeral director/embalmer and as a professional counselor.

As primary embalming faculty in the Mortuary Science Department, José is responsible for the education and training of all embalming students. He is also responsible for the certification of each individual student’s embalming competencies, as stipulated by the American Board of Funeral Service Education. In the funeral service area, José has participated in workshops focusing on embalming curriculum and item-writing for the International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards. His counseling experience concentrates on bereavement, especially as it affects children and youths.

As a visiting professor José has conducted educational and training seminars on embalming, loss, and bereavement in Mexico, Peru, South Korea, and Hong Kong. José is active with non-profit organizations participating with international children’s services and local bereavement programs where he facilitates grief support groups open to the general public.

José’s research agenda focuses on the fields of adult education and bereavement facilitation to assist mortuary students, funeral professionals, and grief therapists explore new venues to educate bereaved parents and children to communicate and find balance when confronted with end-of-life situations.
