What Do You Pay Part-Time Employees?
Last Thursday Connecticut passed a law raising the state’s minimum wage from $8.70 to $10.10 an hour, making it the highest of any state in the nation. The news is significant because $10.10 is also the same rate that President Barack Obama wants for the federal minimum wage.
The Huffington Post interviewed funeral director Bill Iovanne, Jr. regarding the minimum wage increase and this was his reply:
“Our full-time employees are all on salary, and our part-time employees already make $20 an hour,” said Iovanne, 55, who is the president of Iovanne Funeral Home in New Haven, Conn., which his grandfather founded in 1928. “This is something we are just going to absorb.”
$20 an hour for part-time employees caught us a little off guard so we started asking other funeral directors what they paid part-time employees and most were no where near the $20/hour mark.
SO we are curious to know on a large scale – what do you pay part-time employees?
