CANA and CTQ Announce Partnership to Provide French Language Crematory Operations Training

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Wheeling, IL (November 5, 2013) The Corporation des thanatologues du Québec (CTQ) and Cremation Association of North America (CANA) are proud to announce a partnership to bring French language crematory operations training to Canada. The two associations will collaborate to translate the CANA Crematory Operations Certification Program curriculum and materials into French and train instructors to deliver the certification program in the classroom.

“The completely new CANA Crematory Operations Certification Program curriculum marks the debut of a new standard of training for our industry,” says CANA President, Rick Wiseman. “Our partnership with CTQ ensures this vital professional education reaches an even broader audience across North America. As the leading death care industry association in Quebec, CTQ is the perfect partner to ensure the highest professional and educational standards are achieved.”

Leading the standards of professionalism in the death care industry in Quebec, the CTQ is engaged in offering its members and French speaking funeral directors educational courses of quality. “That’s why we are so pleased to have a partnership with CANA for the Crematory Operations Certification Program. The CANA program is notable for its thorough coverage of the material and its attention to important details,” says CTQ president, Valérie Garneau.

The Cremation Association of North America’s Crematory Operations Certification Program™ is the most comprehensive educational program in the industry, covering the best policies, practices, and procedures for working with the families who have chosen cremation as their method of memorialization and disposition. Nine industry experts and five crematory manufacturers served as subject matter experts to develop the content of the manual and presentation. The course focuses on History and Terminology, Equipment & Operations, Policies & Procedures and Reducing Legal Risk. Using images, games and case studies, participants interact with and learn from each other as well as the faculty. Continuing the CANA tradition of training from practitioner, manufacturer and attorney perspectives, participants appreciate the multi-faceted approach and overview of all aspects of crematory operations.
