NFDA Reaching Out to End-of-life Caregivers During Convention
In conjunction with its International Convention & Expo, taking place in October in Austin, Texas, the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) is offering two unique opportunities for funeral service to come together with professionals who support the dying, dead and the bereaved.
Free Webcast with All-star Panel
On Monday, October 21, 1-3 p.m. CT, NFDA will host a live webcast, End of Life Care: From One Set of Caring Arms to Another. This webcast is an extraordinary opportunity to hear an all-star panel of experts share important insights into how hospice professionals, funeral directors, members of the clergy and grief counselors can come together to support those at the end of life. Webcast participants will learn how each vocation has a specific role in serving client families and how collaborative efforts can provide a continuum of care at the end-of-life.
The webcast panelists include: Robert Friedman MD, FAAHPM, the Chief Medical Officer at Hospice Austin in Austin, Texas; Dr. Thomas G. Long, the Bandy Professor of Preaching at Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga.; Thomas Lynch, a writer and funeral director from Milford, Mich.; and Dr. Alan Wolfelt, an author, educator and grief counselor.

Hospice Professionals Invited to Attend NFDA Convention
For the first time ever, NFDA is inviting hospice professionals to attend its convention on Wednesday, October 23, as guests. NFDA hopes that hospice caregivers will walk away with a better understanding of the value of funerals, memorialization and the unique expertise that funeral director provide to the dying, the dead and the bereaved.
As NFDA’s guests, hospice professionals will have complimentary access to:
· Select educational sessions on burnout in caregivers and grief and healing following the death of a loved one – two topics that are very relevant to their interests
