Usually when we bring you social media content we use funeral homes as the target example in the context. We wanted to go a different direction with the article and use examples from the kinds of businesses that you and your family probably come in contact with as normal consumers every week.
The idea is that you think like a consumer and not a funeral director, we don’t mean that in a negative way at all, what we are trying to say is ‘you are a normal consumer just like your client families, and once you grasp the concept that your marketing effort are targeted at consumers just like you (you are really who you are marketing to) then it becomes easier to understand how new forms of marketing online play a role in grabbing the engagement of targeted consumers researching death-care services.

Top 5 Tips For Promoting Your Products On Pinterest
#1 – Promote Holiday Gifts
It’s always great when you can create holiday themed posts all across your various Social Media platforms and Pinterest is no different. Just as shops make displays for Christmas, Easter and Mother’s Day, so should you!
Show your customers that you’ve got what they need in stock and maybe give them a few ideas while you’re at it.
First you need to make the board and label it clearly. Fill out all of the details accurately and then start pinning. If you want to make a big impact you could also start with a secret board then make it public when you’re ready to show it off.
It’s possible to pin from other sources by searching for items but we would recommend either pulling images from your website or uploading your own where possible. Add a description and try to add a personal touch too!
Most importantly you will need to edit the pins so that they all link back to the relevant web page, ideally the page from where the customers can make the purchase.
Finally shuffle your boards around so that your holiday board is at the top. Once you’re done feel free to advertise the board across your other social networks.
#2 – Create A Products Board With A Theme
Rather than just putting everything you sell under one big board try experimenting with different themes. For fashion or design companies this could be done by colour or style. Running an offer for one particular brand? Try creating a board just for that.
Pinterest users adore a bit of creative flair so feel free to experiment. If a certain board isn’t working out you can always delete it and try something else.
Above is a board from Kali Co Court, a spa and hair salon. Hair products have been grouped together and elsewhere is a board for “nail care”. But other possible boards could go by colour themes. So for example the colour “orange” could bring together shades of orange nail polish, the orange bottles for “Matrix sleek looks” and maybe even hair straighteners (if the box is orange).
Making use of accurate and popular keywords will also have the bonus of being good for search engine optimization, thus making your board easier to find.
#3 – Highlight Popular Products
If you’ve ever worked in a shop, you’ll know that popular products are best displayed front and centre, not hidden away. While it can be tempting to think that struggling products need the helping hand, you would actually create far more sales by pushing what’s already popular.
The other reason why this is a good idea is that when people are browsing items online, terms like “bestseller” act as a recommendation. After all if that many people like it then chances are you will too right?
As before, work at creating attractive images, accurate descriptions and the current price. Be sure to keep information up-to-date and remove anything that has decreased in popularity.
Bare in mind that the most recent pins will go to the top so if you intend to show off something new, make sure you don’t drown it beneath lots of other pins.
#4 – Generate Website Traffic
For this one you will need a blog, report, e-book or case study, basically anything that can be regarded as quality content. If you don’t have anything like this on your website yet a good place to start would be a blog.
Write articles that relate to who your are, what you do and what you sell. Make it interesting and entertaining and use images to illustrate. Now Pin this content on to its own Pinterest board.
The image will be the first thing to catch people’s eyes so use something good. Write a short description underneath or an extract with a call to action to visit the original web page.
The idea for this isn’t to sell anything directly (unless you’re selling e-books) but to guide more traffic to your website. After all, every visitor is a potential customer and people who are already fans of your website are much more likely to buy something from you at a later date.
#5 – Build An Audience First
No matter what Social Network you’re on it’s always important to build an audience before you do anything else. Just setting up an account and shouting “BUY THIS, BUY THIS!!!” isn’t going to get you anywhere.
Pinterest is a unique platform and its users appreciate quality and a friendly attitude. Like posts made by other users and comment to show how sociable you can be. You could also create an “Inspiration” board or even just “Things We Love” as a place to repin images from other users.
Take your time with Pinterest and work hard to create something that’s appealing to your audience. Gradually your audience will grow and then you can introduce them to some of your products.
