TLC, the network whose every offering sounds like a fake TV series that might have been in Idiocracy, has decided to turns a Dallas-set one-off into a full-blown series.

Today the network announced that Best Funeral Ever, about the fancy doings at John Beckwith Jr.’s Golden Gate Funeral Home on South R.L. Thornton Freeway, will appear every week on the network that also airs, among other things, America’s Word TattoosLong Island Medium and, of course, Here Comes Honey Boo BooAfter a brief delay the network aired an hourlong special in January that was well-received. As The Hollywood Reporter noted at the time, the show was “a look inside a world where one might unexpectedly have, as Beckwith says, ‘the time of your eternal life.’” (The Washington Postoffered a very, very different opinion.)

And now you can have it weekly, beginning close to year’s end. From TLC:

Best Funeral Ever

The buzzed-about special now returns as a series. For most of us, death is a time to mourn. But for others, it’s a time to honor loved ones and celebrate their lives with home-going celebrations, services that turn the traditional funeral on its head. In its first season, BEST FUNERAL EVER goes inside the Dallas-based Golden Gate Funeral Home where John Beckwith Jr. and his staff organize the most unique ceremonies in the country, proving once again that, while you may be in a casket, it can still be fantastic! (4Q 2013)

At this point, it just might be the best TV show set in Dallas.
