NFDA Endorses The HELPcard, an At-need Financing Provider

The HELPcard will help members offer the families they serve a line of credit to pay for funerals

Brookfield, Wis. – Funerals can be an unexpected and significant financial burden, especially in these tough economic times. The National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) has endorsed The HELPcard, an at-need financing option for families that may have difficulty paying for the cost of their loved one’s funeral.

“We’re pleased that NFDA has been able to respond the needs of our members and endorse an at-need financing company,” said NFDA Vice President of Membership Anna Bernfeld. “We sought out a solid and reputable company that would provide excellent customer service to our members and, even more importantly, to the families they serve. The HELPcard is another option that our members can offer to families with few other financial resources to pay for their loved one’s funeral or memorial service.”

The HELPcard lets funeral directors focus on helping families plan meaningful funeral and memorial services. It helps funeral home owners increase cash flow, minimize risk and diminish the need for in-house billing and collections. Funeral homes assume no risk or recourse when a family chooses to finance a funeral or memorial service with The HELPcard: the funeral home receives payment within 48 hours of the loan being approved; the client family works directly with The HELPcard to pay off their loan.

The application process is easy; an individual can apply online, by phone or fax, and receive quick approval. There are a variety of financing plans that The HELPcard can offer to an applicant; even individuals with less than perfect credit could be approved for a line of credit.

There are no enrollment fees for funeral homes that wish to offer The HELPcard. Funeral directors will receive free training and educational materials so that they fully understand and can explain The HELPcard program to families. Funeral homes will also have a personal account manager they can contact for assistance.
