Could this Work? Funeral Home Uses Stage Hypnotist to Help Grieving Families
Under her real name of Sue MacLean she has created a home from home environment at her new business to be called Ashby Funeral Care.
She has personally designed the chapel of rest with a kitchen alongside so mourners can enjoy a cup of tea.
Sue, 56, has decided to branch out on her own after 15 years in the funeral business.
She said: “It will be lovely taking funerals back in time and giving that personal time and attention needed by those bereaved.”
Her parlour will also break new ground by hosting free monthly seminars for the public and setting up support groups for the bereaved.
Sue said: “I have been a hypnotherapist for more than 20 years and have helped many people come to terms with the loss of a loved one and overcome issues such as fears and addictions.
“I still help people now as it’s a skill one never loses.
“Some people might find my two professions directly in opposition.
“However, hypnosis is a very powerful tool and has cured many people from phobias, addictions and moving forward after the loss of a loved one.
“My mother was one of the very early hypnotherapists and used to work in mental health. She taught me the skills and I have helped many hundreds of people with addictions, phobias, preventing suicide and much more.
“Many people find it difficult to move forward after a loss. It saddens me the number of suicides we are still dealing with. There is always a solution and help available.”
On stage Suzie Gibb is also known to perform a comedy hypnosis routine. But she reserves that act strictly to raise funds for charities for UK servicemen and women.
In line with other independent directors Sue plans to under-cut the national chains by at least £450 and will offer free funerals for under 18-year-olds.
Another innovation will see mourners able to hire a motor-bike with a coffin-sidecar to lead the cortege.
