One of the largest funeral services conglomerates in the country – Houston-based Service Corporation International is expanding in Northern Virginia with the purchase of two independently owned funeral homes.

Publicly held SCI purchased a funeral home in Arlington for $6 million and one in Falls Church for $4.2 million, acquisitions that follow other SCI purchases in the region.

The Arlington and Falls Church funeral homes were operated for more than 40 years by family-owned Murphy Funeral Homes.

The new purchases complement SCI’s portfolio of other funeral homes in the area, including Demaine Funeral Home in Alexandria.
