Aurora Casket Union Rejects Second Offer

Aurora, Ind. — Another contract offer for union workers with Aurora Casket has been rejected.

International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local Lodge M300 President Tim Ashcraft says 83 percent of union members voted down the company’s latest collective bargaining contract offer Saturday.

It’s the second offer to be rejected, so the union will continue working under its old contract. Workers are advised to show up for work Monday.

No further contract negotiations are scheduled at this time, says Ashcraft.

Based on the percentage of votes, it looks as though the two sides are coming closer to an agreement. The union had rejected Aurora Casket’s first contract offer in March when 96 percent of members voted against it.
