Arlington Cemetery Gets iPad App
Announcing that Cameron Davidson LLC, the developer of Arlington Cemetery, has launched a touching new product for iPad users. The photographer, Cameron Davidson does it again, releasing another application containing the spectacular pictures for which he is known. In Arlington Cemetery, users get to view some of the poignant aerial, landscape and portrait photos taken by Davidson for his Smithsonian Story on the Cemetery and his book, “A Moment of Silence.” The app offers a quiet reflection and tour of the beautiful scenes, rituals, ceremonies and monuments that are so important in commemorating the fallen heroes resting in Arlington National Cemetery.
Cameron Davidson is renowned worldwide for his photography, which has appeared in numerous publications and in his first app, Aerial New York City. Now, Davidson is launching a second application, a commemorative photo essay of Arlington National Cemetery. In the Arlington Cemetery app, Davidson uses images from his book, “A Moment of Silence,” plus his Smithsonian story of the revered cemetery.
For Davidson, the project’s images and memories are especially poignant. “Arlington National Cemetery has special meaning for me,” says Davidson. “The Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery is the final resting place of my father, George Lambie Davidson, a Korean War veteran.”
Davidson’s emotions come through his photographs, which act as a quiet, reflective tribute to the nation’s fallen heroes. Users can connect with the beautiful scenes and the feelings that surface when appreciating those important traditions and deep meaning in commemorating the soldiers who have been laid to rest there. The images in Arlington Cemetery provide an intimate portrait of the grounds and surrounding area via aerial, landscape and portrait perspectives.
