The Funeral Industry Is Changing, Please Listen to The Customer

I recently read a book by Gary Vaynerchuk called “Crush It“. The book is about how Gary was able to use social media to drive his families Wine business from a $3.0 Mil business to over a $70.0 Mil operation in just 7 years. Gary tells how he used his passion and social media to “Crush It“. Gary is also the host of WineLibrary TV, and has been a true inspiration in my early launching of Crush It. Through Twitter and Facebook I have been able to have short dialogs with Gary about my vision for CDTV. I wanted to wait until I could find someone else in the industry to host the show with me, and until I could afford an nice HD camera. Gary inspired me to embrace the moment and follow my passion. Gary explained to me; If you are trying to build a community you need to be personal and open. Camera quality doesn’t matter, if your content is great and you truly care your community will love it.

So that is why I start Crush It shooting with this my iPhone and a tripod (I am now using a Flip MinoHD, much easier).

The point of this short post is to share with you a video from Gary. Gary does a lot of consulting and brand management for Fortune 500 companies and helps them to reshape the way they interact with their customers, and help them listen to what the customer wants.

The funeral industry is changing and the change is being driven by the consumer. They are demanding things that require new technology and a different mind set that funeral directors must embrace. To be successful we must listen to the customer and embrace their requests; must of all we must change.

This video is titled “Drawing Lines in the Sand”. I would love to hear your feedback.
